    Work began in 1881, finished in 1914, now that the canal was finished it prevented ships from having to travel around South America. The Panama Canal was one of the hardest engineering Projects but it cut the time in half to travel from the Atlantic to the Pacific. while ships used the canal it brought economic growth among US West Coast and nations along the Pacific. Jimmy Carter later gave back the canal to Panamanian in 1977.

This is what triggered the war was all caused by the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria.

Earlier warned to look about for U-boats, unfortunately, it was too late U-20 locked on to the Lusitania and launched a torpedo at 1:40 p.m. hitting the starboard directly. Also igniting another explosion sinking the ship in a whopping 18 minutes killing 1,198 out of the 1,959 who boarded, when it hit the public it shocked the whole world.

They also passed a Volstead Act during Prohibition that only allowed 1 proof of the alcohol in any beverage.
