First Film

First film made was called Roundboy Garden. It was made by french inventor Louis Prince. It lasted 2.11 seconds

First Sound Film

1894

First sound film was created by Williams Dickson. He recorded the first sound film featuring a violin scratching out a melody.

First Color Film

1894

The first color film was actually tinted by hand. One frame at a time color was added to the film. The movie was called Annabelle Butterfly Dance.

First Kiss on Film

1896

The kiss was the first time to feature a kiss ever on film. It was 30 seconds of broadway stars making out. The companies most popular movie at the time.

First Narrative film

1903

The first narrative film was called The Great train robbery. Made by Edwin Porter. Lasted 12 minutes long.

First company to attract 2.6 million viewers

1910

The first theater to attract 2.6 million viewers each week. They then realized how much it would make . They began doing more shows.

In the movie hypocrites (1915) was shot in New York. Directed by Louis Weber, Hypocrites was a movie about exposing organized religion.

Charlie Chaplin was a comedic actor in silent films. He wasnt just funny he also performed about world issues. America loved him.

First female to direct narrative films. The first 10 years she was the only female in the industry. She paved the way for lots of women.

Power of Love was the first 3D film mad. They used red and green anaglyph (just like 3D glasses). The film is now lost.
