    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a street fight that occurred between a "patriot" mob and a squad of British soldiers. It consisted of throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks. Many were killed and this led to colonist being outraged and fighting for independence.

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act granted the British India Company the right to ship its tea directly to the American colonies, without first landing it in England. The colonist were upset because the tax on tea continued, so as a result they protested and the Boston Tea Party occurred.

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party took place in three British ships in the Boston harbor, which Boston patriots dressed as Mohawk Indians raided and dumped 342 containers of tea into the harbor. The colonist were outraged that they had to pay taxes on tea, which is why the Boston Tea Party occurred. Because of the Boston Tea Party, the British passed the Intolerable Acts, which were extremely harsh and cruel to the people of Boston.

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were passed by the British Parliament as a result of the Boston Tea Party and essentially as punishment for it. The colonists were upset because the acts took power away from them and punished some people for an event they didn't participate in. The colonist felt some of the acts took away their basic freedoms. These acts helped unite the colonies and move them one step closer to revolution.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    The Quebec Act instituted a permanent administration in Canada and replaced the temporary government it had before. The colonist feared Parliamentary Supremacy, which is why they were angry about the Quebec Act. It proved to the colonist that the British were not afraid to restrict colonial governments, in order to secure their possessions in North America.
