    The Great Awakening

    The Great Awakening was a religious revival in the American colones. The Great Awakening has been seen as a development towards evangelical Calvinism. Martin Luther and John Calvin preached on the message of predestination. Christians felt as if their method of worship were being put down with wealth and rationalism. They believed those things were dominating culture. The 13 colonies then religiously divided.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was an act of Great Britain which put direct tax on the British colonies. It required that many printed materials in the colonies were to be produced on stamped paper produced in London. This then carried the revenue of stamp.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act was an act of Great Britain. The objective was to reduce the large amount of tea held by the British East India Company. They were troubled and struggling so this was to benefit and help the succeed essentially.
  • The First Continental Congress

    Delegates from 13 colonies except Georgia, met in Philadelphia to discuss and organize colonial resistance to Parliament's Coercive Acts. It resulted in a compact among the 13 colonies to boycott British goods.

    Revolutionary War

    The Revolutionary War began from tensions between the 13 colonies. It was said to e caused by colonial opposition to British attempts to impose greater control over the colonies to make them repay the crown for its defense of them during the French and Indian War. A peace treaty was signed which ended this war.

    The Declaration of Independence states the principles of which our government and identity of America is based. It is unlike any other founding document. It is not legally binding but is very powerful. It continues to inspire those around the world to fight for their freedom and equality.

    The Constitutional Convention was an event to decide on how America was going to be governed. At first, they gathered to revise the Articles of Confederation, but by June they had decided to just completely redesign the government.
  • Federal Government is established

    The Federal Government is established. The founders found it necessary to creating this branch because they were trying to balance order with liberty. Their reasons for it to be created was to avoid tyranny. to allow more participation in politics, and to use the states for new ideas and programs.
