    Queen Anne's War

    This war was the second in a series of French and Indian Wars fought in England's Thirteen American Colonies. It was fought during during the reign of Queen Anne, hence the name.The result was a huge British victory, since France ceded to Britain the control of Acadia, Newfoundland, Hudson Bay, and Saint Kitts.
  • Slave Revolt

    Slave Revolt
    In New York at this time, there was a slave revolt led by 23 enslaved Africans. They killed nine whites and injured several others before they were controlled. This, however, resulted in the arrest of over 70 africans, three times the number actually involved. This resulted in six suicides and twenty-one executions.

    The English pirate Blackbeard is killed off the coast of Ocracoke Island in North Carolina by the crew of Lieutenant Robert Maynard. Although this is a silly little "fun fact", Blackbeard actually cause a lot of problems in England, ruthlessly pillaging many ships that came on or out. It was quite a victory for the english to track him down and get rid of him for good.

    King George's War

    This was the military operation in North America that formed part of the War of the Austrian Succession. It was the third of the four French and Indian War and it occurred primarily in the provinces such as New York, Massachusetts Bay, New Hampshire, and other.
  • 2nd Slave Revolt

    2nd Slave Revolt
    nearly 30 ears after the first slave revolt in New York, a second one occurs, again in New York. It became known as New York Conspiracy of 1741, and was a plot by slaves and poor whites to revolt and level the city by using a series of fires to kill and destroy. The effect on slaves was catastrophic compared to the first time.17 slaves were hanged after the revolt, 13 were burned, and 70 were deported!

  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act, also know as the American Revenue Act or American Duties Act, was created in 1764, but repealed shortly after in 1766. It was passed by the British Parliament as an act to raise revenue for different projects and responsibilities the British had and needed funds for in america. It also aimed at ending the smuggling trade in sugar and molasses from the French and Dutch West Indies. It was repealed by the Revenue Act of 1766.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act of 1765 was an Act of British Parliament that imposed direct tax on the (British) colonies in America and required that printed materials in the colonies be produced on stamped paper produced in London. This carrying an embossed revenue stamp. This act, similarly to the Sugar Act, was repealed in 1766, but instead by the "Act Repealing the Stamp Act 1766".
  • Election of 1796

    Election of 1796
    The third quadrennial presidential election, marking the end of Washington's time as president, and the beginning of John Adams. Washington gives his famous farewell address, while President Adams and Vice President Thomas Jefferson move into there new positions. This was particularly a special election in history because it's the only time where a president and vice president have been elected from opposing sides, Jefferson for the Democratic-Republican Party and Adams for the Federalist Party.
