The farmers were struggling with debt due to the Articles of Confederation, so they took up arms. It was led by Daniel Shays. The shaysites formed blockades around courthouses. Lincoln's militia arrested 1,000 shaysites. This Rebellion ended with the Articles of Confederation being removed, and the Riot Acts being put in place.
