    On January 31, 1865 the Emancipation Proclomation was put into effect after President Lincoln announced it. The proclomation stated that all slaves in United States teritory would be freed. This is the most important thing that Abraham Lincoln ever did because it ended slavery, which at the time was one of the worst problems facing the world.
