    In 1585 Walter Raleigh was allowed to send over 100 men to the coast of North Carolina onto an island called Roanoke Island. Two of his explorers were sent to see if Roanoke Island was the perfect place to settle and it was.
  • Desertion

    Desertion
    There was a desertion of the men Raleigh had sent over because of the lack of supplies they had. Raleigh was also mad about the number of men that had came back. Only fifteen men showed up with supplies. So because of that Raleigh hired Simon Fernandez to transport over 100 more men, this time including women and children. John White was the one put in charge and brought his family along on this long journey to Roanoke island.

    Upon the arrival in 1587 John White and Simon Fernandez were both unhappy with what a disaster that the Natives had left them with.Some of the Natives had killed the men that were left there.Fernandez still demanded that they settle there and so they did but they didn't know what was coming next.

    The Lost Colony

    In between the years 1589 and 1607 there was a banishment of people and still to this day we don't know what happened to them. It was called "The Lost Colony."The reason it happened is because John White had left to get supplies and left all men,women,and children on Roanoke Island with Natives surrounding them. England and the Spanish were at war. When White returned to Roanoke Island he found that his people were taken and that the name of a local tribe name was carved nearby. "Croatoan"
  • Jamestown

    Jamestown
    Twenty years later John Smith became the leader of over 100 men and landed on the banks Virginia's James River. Witch was very unhealthy to drink and was not tasty either.John was very stubborn and decided to stay there after getting attacked by natives. After that he permanently made a colony called Jamestown.Then he was looking for food for his men and was captured by Chief Powhatan and taken to his home and there was where he met Pocahontas and where she saved his life.

    Goodbye
    John Smith and Pocahontas lived happily until Smith got ill and was sent back to England. After Smith died the relationship between the settlers and the Powhatan nation weekend.Pocahontas was sent of to another settlement and that's where she met her husband John Rolfe.
