The Battle of Dunkirk was a battle in the Second World War between the Allies and Germany. A part of the Battle of France on the Western Front, the Battle of Dunkirk was the defence and evacuation of British and allied forces in Europe from 24 May to 4 June 1940.

The evacuation at Dunkirk ends. 338,000 troops were rescued. Churchill declares that Britain will never surrender.

On June 22, 1941, four million troops poured over the Russian border. Within one month, over two and half million Russians had been killed, wounded or captured. The Germans made tremendous advances into Russia into portions of Moscow, Leningrad, and Stalingrad.
