    PICTURE SOURCEOn November 18, 1903, Panama signed with Hay-Bunea-Varilla Treaty which overturned a 10-mile wide strip of land for the construction of the Panama Canal. The terms of this contract stated that the U.S. would pay $10 million for the land and annual rental payments of 250K.
