    The House of Burgesses was the first assembly of elected representatives of English colonists in North America. The House was created by the Virginia Company, who established the body as an effort to encourage English craftsmen to settle in North America.

    The Mayflower Compact was the first governing document of Plymoth Colony that was signed in a cabin in the Mayflower. It influenced the development of the American Government because it formed the bases of equality and the fact that everyone was created equal. "In the name of God, Amen. We whose names are underwritten, the loyal subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord King James, by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, etc."

    British soldiers fought against French soldiers and Native Americans. Native Americans joined in the battle against the British because they were afraid the British would take over their land. "Many Indians allied themselves with the French in the French and Indian War. The French lost the war, and the Indians found themselves without an ally."

    This was a war between the French with their Indian allies and the British. This war was one about land and who would have more control over America. The British won the war after the French made the Treaty of Paris. The end of the war also resulted in a lot of debt for the British so to make up this debt they inforced taxes such as on documents and tea.

    The Battle of Lexingtom and Concord was a battle between the British and the American colonists that started the Revolutionary War. This battle led the colonists into a war that would gain their independence and to their future as a democracy.

The money was used to protect the American frontier from the border near the Appalachian Mountains.     The Boston Tea Party was an act of rebellion against the tax on tea. A group of Boston citizens boarded a British ship dressed as indians and threw their cargo of tea into the Boston Harbor.

    The Declaration of Independence was a document that stated America's independence from England. This document leads to our new government after our freedom from Great Britian.
