The Magna Carta is thought to be the crucial turning point in the struggle to establish freedom. Many of the sections in our Bill of Rights can be traced back to this document. -

This Social Contract was the first orginised Government on American soil. -

In this document we see that many rights in our constitution come directly from here. We see mainly who can levie taxes and a ban on the billeting of troops. -
Navigation Act
As a result of this act, trade into the American colonies became very restricted witch caused alot of termoil. It also had the effect of increaseing the British navy. -
Proclamation of 1763
This document changed how we related ourselves wit the Native Americans and foreners. -
Sugar Act
This Act was what kindled rebellion in the American Colinists in the besgining. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was another of a long line of exuberant taxes enforced on the American colonies. Besides being very expensive the main reason why Americans did not like this tax was because the British were takeing their money without letting them be a part of law makeing. -
The Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was one of the first orginised rebelions agienst the British. the main reason that this "Party" took place was because the Americans felt they were being unfairly taxed. -
Coercive Act
These last Acts created by the British were the final straw for the Americans. These Acts were what led to the First Continental Congress that in the end led to the Revolutionary War. -
First shots fired at Lexington and Concord
These shots were the official start of the revolutonary war. -
Second Continental Congress
The Second Continental Congress signed the Decloration of Independence and brought it into effect.
