    Herbert Hoover was the 31st president of teh United States of Amercia. He was blamed for the Great Depression because he would not give help to those in need when the depression happened.

    RFC stands for Reconstruction Finance Corporation. It was built to assist banks, life insurance companies, railroads, and other large businesses with their financial situations. The RFC was lead by Herbert Hoover
  • The Bonus Army

    The Bonus Army was a force of 43,000 men and women veterans who attacked and railed for their compensation. The World War Adjusted Compensation Act of 1924 promised veterans compensation for their time in the armed forces. They railed for money that they did not yet get.

    Father Charles Edward Coughlin was a priest at National Shrine of the Little Flower Church. Coughlin was one of the first to use radio and attracted more than 30 million a week. After hinting at attacks of Jewish bankers, he began to use his show to rationalize policies of Hitler and Mussolini.

    Starting in 1936, the auto workers at GM created the UAW, which stands for the United Auto Workers. The workers were not happy with their pay and literaly sat down and refused to work until the conflict was resolved.

    Rape of Nanking, was a mass murder and war rape that took place during the 6 week timespan following the Japanese take over of Nanjing. Many of Chinese citizens were killed and the Imperial Japanese Army raped 20,000 - 80,000 women.

    The Grapes of Wrath is a story authored by John Steinbeck, who was also awarded with the Pulitzer Prize in 1940 and the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962.The story took place during the Great Depression, the main family, the Joads, are a poor family of farmers who are forced to leave their home in Oklahoma because of drought.
