Slavery was prohibit in the Louisiana Purchase north of latitude 36°30N except Missouri . The congress wanted to keep balance between Anti slavery and slave state . This event led to the Civil War.

    In 1831, Nat Turner lead a violent slave revolt, accrued in Southampton County, Virginia. Nat Turner and his followers crept into their masters house and killed the family their murder spree through the county. By the end, 55 whites where killed. Nat was escape that day but capture and was put to his death. This revolt led to the Civil War because it showed slaves really wanted their freedom.
