Black Codes
Were made to control newly emancipated slaves. It prohibited the ownership of guns for African Americans. -
The Sullivan Law
Govener John A. Dix creates the Sullivan law which states that all gun owners must have a liscense to buy and own a gun. -
National Firearms Act
Declares that gun sellers must obtain a license and record names and addresses of gun owners. Gun sales to felons is prohibited. -
Martin Luther King Jr and Senator Kennedy assasinated
Fueled the fire for gun control law that says fire arms, ammunition, and imported guns cannot be obtained by felons, drug users, or people with mental illness. -
Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994
Bans the sale, manufactor, importation, and possession of certain assult weapons for civilian use. -
Colombine Highschool Massacre
Two senior students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, murdered a total of 12 students and one teacher. They injured 21 additional students, with three other people being injured while attempting to escape the school. The pair then committed suicide.
The Columbine High School massacre is the deadliest mass murder committed on an American high school campus. -
Bowling for Colombine is released
A Michael Moore documentary explaining the rediculousness of guns and their effects upon society was released to the public. -
Aurora Movie theater shooting
during a midnight screening of the film The Dark Knight Rises. A gunman, dressed in tactical clothing, set off tear gas grenades and shot into the audience with multiple firearms, killing 12 people and injuring 58 others. -
Sandy Hook Shooting
Gunman enters elementary school and kills 26 people.
