    The French and Indian War was part of the Seven Years War waged between France and England. They fought for control of North America and the rich fur trade.

    The war between England and France for control of the Colonies. this is important because England won and took control of the US Colonies and was able to tax to pay off debts
  • Sugar Act

    Act that put a three-cent tax on foreign sugar and increased taxes on coffee. This is important because it was the first taxation that slowly led to colonist wanting to decalre independence.
  • Stamp Act

    this required stamps to be purchased or included on many different items and documents such as playing cards, legal papers, newspapers, and more. This is important because it created another tax item that made the colinist mad
  • Townshend Act

    These taxes were created to help colonial officials become independent of the colonists by providing them with a source of income.
  • Boston Massacre

    British Troops killed 5 colonists in a rioting crowd. this led to colonist getting very angry because they killed them for no reason. this is important because it set some people over the edge of wanting to become independent
  • Tea Act

    Gave the British East India Company right to trade tea in America. major tea ships were coming in and out of harbors which led to more taxes, this is important because britian controling the harbor made colonists mad because more taxes were put in place
  • Boston Tea Party

    A group of colonists dressed as Indians dumped tea from three ships into Boston Harbor. they up rowed over the tea taxes. this is important because Britian became mad and just passed more taxes to the colonist
  • Intolerable Acts

    These placed many restrictions on the colonists including the closing of Boston Harbor. this is important because the colonists couldnt get resorces from other countrys, britian only wanted to have them get the goods from them so they could tax
