    President Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States of America. Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth during a theatre production at the Fords Theatre in Washington D.C. Booth and his conspirators were hung on July 7, 1865 for the assassination of the president.

    The first World War involved conflicts with the numerous powerful countries of the world. The United States did not get involved until July 1914. Before their involvement, they remained neutral and made supplies for Great Britain. 5 million Americans fought in the World War and everyone in the nation was united and involved. They made supplies for our troops and rationed items for survival.

    The manufacture, sale, and distribution of liquor was outlawed. Groups throighout the nation fought for this law (18th Amendement). Illegal bars formed and Mafia groups started getting involved in crime toward alcohol. Due to the chaos, the 21st amendment was passed allowing alcohol to be sold and manufactured again on December 5, 1933

    The Great Depression was a worldwide economic depression. In America, millions were left without a job and everyone was financially hurt. The stock market crashed on October 29, 1929, starting the depression. The day the stock market crashed is known as Black Tuesday.

    The Cold War was when the United States and the Soviet Union were in a state of political tension and military rivalry. It was not an actual "war." However, this event led to the downfall of the Soviet Union and the rise of power for the US.
