    Nuremberg Trials The Nuremberg trials were new laws passed to institutionalize racial theories in Nazi ideology. The laws mostly targeted jews and anyone who didnt have "german blood". Laws prevented jews from marrying or having sexual relations with anyone who has german blood.

    German Blitzkrieg

    German Blitzkrieg This was the plan Hitler had to wage the war. One of the first examples was when Germany invaded Poland. When translated from German it meant “Lightning war”. The goal was to cause disorganization among enemy forces through ground and air forces.

    Germany Invades Poland

    German forces move in by land and by air to Poland. This was an example on how Hitler planned to wage the war. It was named the “blitzkrieg” strategy. Although Polish forces had over 1 million men the were under equipped and wanted to fight head on. They made several miscalculations. As a result Great Britain began bombing Germany 3 days later.

    Operation Barbarossa Operation Barbarossa- Hitler started to gain more territory. Hitler moved to invade the soviet union with a massive force. Barbarossa was the turning point in WWll and the Nazi’s failure caused them to fight a 2 front war. The germans highly underestimated their opponent. In the end the soviets over reached and Germans failed, not being able to fight a 2 front war.

    Pearl Harbor the first of two waves of Japanese aircraft launched a devastating attack on the US Pacific Fleet, moored at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The raid, which came with no warning and no declaration of war, destroyed four battleships and damaged four more in just two hours. The causes of the attack on Pearl Harbor stemmed from intensifying Japanese-American rivalry in the Pacific.

    Wannsee Conference
    Wannsee COnference was the meeting of a group of civilians, police and military representatives of the government of Nazi Germany on the "final solution of the Jewish question". The agreements reached led to the Holocaust. The conference was held on January 20, 1942 in Gross Wannsee villa number 20, next to the lake of the same name, in the Wannsee district, located in the southwest of Berlin.

    Battle of Midway

    Midway This was a naval engagement between U.S forces and Japanese forces. This resulted in Japan’s desire to destroy American aircraft carriers that were missed at pearl harbor. The Japanese had a plan to attack American forces, plans were intercepted. Japanese attacks failed. Many Japanese carriers were hit while refueling. In the end the Japanese lost 322 planes and over 5 thousand sailors.

    Operation Torch British American invasion of French North Africa. Americans wanted to defeat Nazi Germany soon because of growing Japanese victories in the pacific. The plan was after capturing north africa to then invade sicily. The operation turned out a success and soon the Afrika Korps tank division surrendered.

    D-Day the Allied assault upon Hitler’s Fortress Europe began. The operation caught German military by surprise. On Omaha Beach aerial bombardment had done little to dent German defences Americans met fierce resistance. At the day’s end the soldiers had penetrated six kilometres inland, and their foothold in Normandy was secure. The mission was deemed a success.

    Iwo Jima US forces plan to capture the island of Iwo Jima. They needed a base close to Japan. After a month of fighting wiped out the enemy forces. In the end American forces succeeded.
