  • Executive Order 9066

    Executive Order 9066
    This was the goal to remove of Japanese heritage from the western part of the United States. They send them to internment camps. Internment camps gave them a place to live, and food to eat. The states effected were California, Washington, Oregon, and Arizona. Two thirds of everyone who was moved, were american citizens. 110,000 people were sent off to live in the internment camps
  • The Bataan March

    The Bataan March
    This was a march of Allied soldiers. They surrendered to the Japanese so they made them do a death march. It consisted of sick, starving soldiers. The march lasted for five days, and five nights. Those who dropped out of line were beaten, or shot, or both. And the ones who fell down, they left you for death.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    The Allies wanted to launch an invasion in Europe's mainland. They stormed the beaches of Normandy. There were 3.5 million soldiers. There was 10,000 casualties, but 6,600 of those were americans. Hitler thought Normandy was a trick to make him not pay attention to the other parts of Germany.

    Raising the Flag on Mount Suribachi
    The soldiers raised the flag after the battle of Iwo Jima. We raised the flag on Mount Suribachi. This is a very impportant picture in history.
  • Auschwitz Liberation

    Auschwitz Liberation
    Americans didn't believe that Hitler's final solution was real. But in April of 1945 American forces arrived at Buchenwald. They found a whole bunch of survivors. They saw that the Nazi's abandoned the camp before they arrived.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima

    Bombing of Hiroshima
    We warned the Japanese to surrendur. If they didnt surrender we told them there would be massive destructions to come. They didn't surrender so we bombed them. Hiroshima was one of the two cities we bombed.
