    The Holocaust

    The Holocaust refers to the Nazi attempt to exterminate the Jewish race. This attempted genocide began with the Nueremberg Laws, which were a set of antisemetic codes. Amongst other forms of persecution, these laws required all people of Jewish decsent to wear gold stars marking them as Jews, as well as forbidding them to marry non-Jews.
  • Germany Invades Poland

    Germany Invades Poland
    On September 1, 2013, Germany invaded the country of Poland in order to expand the German empire. This was done after Germany promised France and England that no more land would be conquered as German territory. Two days later, France and England declared war on Germany, ending the French and English policy of German appeasment.
  • US Declares Nuetrality

    US Declares Nuetrality
    With the American people already weary from World War I, the US immediatly declares itself as nuetral in the European fighting. The Nuetrality Patrol is established in order to enforce this stance and reassure the American people that the US will remain isolated.
  • Japanese Attack Pearl Harbor

    Japanese Attack Pearl Harbor
    On December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. The attack was unexpected as well as unprovoked. The attack destroyed 21 American ships, as well as 2,400 American soldiers. The attack caused the US to declare war on Japan.

    On December 11, 1941, Adolf Hitler declared war on the United States of America. This declaration officially inserted America in the European war affairs and the US joined the Allies in their fight against Hitler.
  • Roosevelt Signs Executive Order 9066

    Roosevelt Signs Executive Order 9066
    On February 19, 1942, President Roosevelt signed the Executive Order 9066. This order stated that out of military necessity, all people of Japanese decsent living in the United states must be placed in temporary internment camps. This order affected both non-citizens as well as American citizens.

    Battle of Midway
    This battle occured between American and Japanese forces. The Americans won with significant loses to the Japanese. It was a turning point in the war, and the victory gave the US a huge advantage in the Pacific.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    Known as the greatest military invasion in history, D-Day occured when US and British troops stormed the beaches of German-occupied Normandy, France. Both sides sustained heavy loses but the battle ended with an Allie victory. This victory was a turning point for the Allies.
  • Manhattan Project Completes the Atom Bomb

    Manhattan Project Completes the Atom Bomb
    A team of American scientists, finally complete the very first atom bomb. The project was led by Major General Leslie Groves and took years to complete, with most of the work being done in the city of Oak Ridge, TN. Less than a month later the bomb would be used to end the American-Japanese war.
  • Atomic Bomb

    Atomic Bomb
    The US drops the very first atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, instantly killing over 70,000 people. Two days later, a second bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki. THese two bombs caused Japan to surrender, ending the war.
