  • The rise of fascism and nazism

    The economic collapse and the political instability caused by World War I led to the rise of fascism in Europe. The Nazi version of fascism was dedicated to the reversal of the Versailles Treaty and the eastablishment of a German Empire by means of war and conquest.

    The Neutrality Acts were laws passed in 1935, 1936, 1937, and 1939 to limit U.S. involvement in future wars.   • Germany’s Expansion and Annexation of Austria

    The German army being so powerful, expanded their country by winning battles against many countries including Austria. It's immoact is that Germany was now much larger than before.
  • Signing of Non-Aggression Pact

    Taking place before the World War II broke out in Europe, enemies Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union signed this pact which said that the two countries agreed to take no military action against each other for the next 10 years. It's impact is that the two will eventually break the pact and fight with one another
  • Blitzkrieg attack on Poland

    Germany didn't want this war to be a long war so they used the blitzkrieg (lightening war) tactic of war. They successfully used this tactic on Poland and Poland was defeated because they had a "World War I mentality" of war. The impact was that the Germans were now doing anything and everything they could to win.
  • Battle of Britain

    The series of aerial combats that took place between British and German aircrafts and included the bombardment of British cities. This was a major impact to the war because it was the largest sustained bombing campaign to that date.
  • Lend- Lease Act

    This act was the principle means for providing U.S. Military aid to foreign nations during World War II. An impact was that it permitted the United States to support its war interests without being overextended in battle.

    The surprise attack of the Japanese navy against the United States naval base. The impact of this event was that it led to the entry of the United States into World War II.

    A naval and air battle in which planes from American aircraft carriers blunted the Japanese naval threat in the Pacific Ocean after Pearl Harbor

    This battle stopped the German advance into the Soviet Union and marked the turning of the tide war in favor of the allies. It is one of the bloodiest battles in American history and Russians consider it to be the greatest battle of their great patriotic war.
  • Invasion of Africa by Einsenhower

    An attack was made on French North Africa which cleared the axis powers from North America, improved naval control of the Mediterranean sea and , and prepared for an invasion of Southern Europe .
  • Transition of the US home front to War production

    The war production was becoming highly popular and the need for many equipment was high. This gave many jobs to the unemployed and America was beginning to come out of their depression.

    The day of the invasion of Western Europe by Allied forces in World War II. It's impact was that it forced the Germans to fight a two front war, but they could not handle war on both sides of them.

    Soviet forces freed those in the Majdanek extermination camp.
  • The Battle of the Bulge

    The last major Nazi offensive against the Allies in World War II. This battle was an attempt by Hitler to split the Allies in two in their drive towards Germany and destroy their ability to supply themselves. It's impact was that it depleted an already weakened German army

    A major battle in which the United States armed forces la des and eventually captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II

    The largest amphibious landing in the pacific theatre of WWII. It's impact was that it resulted in the largest casualties.
  • V-E Day

    The day of the formal surrender of the German armies; a victory in Europe for the Allies. This was the officially announced end of World War II in Europe.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

    The US dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, and three days later a second atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki. (These were the only times nuclear weapons have been used in war). The impact of this was that there was a high death rate
  • V-J Day

    The day the news of the surrender was announced to the whole world which sparked spontaneous celebrations over the final ending of World War II
