  • Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany

    On January 30, 1939, in Germany Hitler was named leader of the Nazi party and therfore Chancellor of Germany. This boost of power for Hitler gave him the authority to control Germany and ultimately cause WWII.
  • Attack on Peral Harbor

    Pearl Harbor in the Hawaiian Island of Honolulu of the U.S. were attacked on Dec. 7, 1941, by Japanese airplanes. This would cost us many naval vessels, people, and airplanes, but would also bring the U.S. into WWII.

    The Battle of the Coral Sea took place in New Guinea and it was the first air-sea battle in history. Both the Allies and Japan were left with plane and boat damages, but it was an Allie victory. This battle casued Japan to not have as many planes in the Battle of the Midway.

    The Battle of the Midway took place in the Pacific and was the most decisive naval battle in WWII. This victory for the Allies allowed them to move into the Pacific in a more offensive way.

    The Battle of Stalingrad took place in Russia and it is condsidered one of the bloodiest battles in history. The Russians consider this the greastest battle of the war and it stopped the Germans from invading the Soviet Union and turned the favors to the Allies.
  • Operation Overlord

    Operation Overlord now known as D-Day took place on the France coast and it was one of the largest amphibious attacks in history and gave most of Western Europe back under Allie power.

    The Battle of the Bulge took place in the Ardennes Mountains of France. The Allied forces stopped the Germans from gaining more teritory although they suffered many casualities and didn't gain anything themselves.

    The Battle of Iwo Jima took place in the Japanese Islands. This battle gave the Americans a Japanese base and many people refer to the picture of the Americans putting up the flag.
