    Event and description
    Concentration camps 1937 - Where built to hold and exterminate Jews. Some could kill up to 1,000 jews an in hour. Most citizens didn’t know what they were used for until American soldiers came and showed them what they were used for.

  • Invasion of Nanking

    Invasion of Nanking 1937 - Japan attacked China. Japan used this battle to show the world they were a true world power. Almost the whole city was killed by the Japanese.

  • Euthanasia Program

    Euthanasia Program 1938 - Was put in place in 1938. Would kill people with mental or physical deformities. Killed a total of 250,000 adults.

  • Hitler takes Austria and Czechoslovakia

    Hitler takes Austria and Czechoslovakia 1938 - Hitler used a method called blitzkrieg. It was a very fast and effective battle strategy. it allowed himself to take control of a country very fast.

  • Auschwitz

    Auschwitz - Could kill up to 1,000 Jews in one hour. It used gas chambers to kill the Jews. It was very hard to escape but some Jews did manage to get away.

  • Hitler Invades Poland

    Hitler invades poland 1939 - Hitler invaded Poland to give Germans more living space. It took around a month to take Poland. Hitler killed polish people to give Germans there home.

    Battle of Britain 1940 - Britain defended their fronts from Enemy air raids. Germany failed to take britain. They could only attack by air because Britain is an island.

  • Hitler invades Russia

    Hitler invades Russia 1941 - Hitler's troops were not prepared. Most didn’t have winter gear when winter hit. Russia would retreat but burn everything as the retreated.

  • Navajo Code Talkers

    Navajo code talkers 1941 - Used their language as a code. The Japanese couldn’t break their language. If they were captured they weren't allowed to confess about the code.

  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor 1941 - Japan bombed the US base of Pearl Harbor. Was when the US joined the war. The Japanese sunk a total of 6 boats and damaged 9.

  • Wannsee Conference

    Wannsee Conference 1942 - 15 Nazi officials meet in secret to discuss the final solution. How to kill all jews. Destroyed most of the evidence of that meeting.

  • Battle of Midway

    Battle of midway 1942 - Very important battle for the US. Allowed the US to be close to Japan. Eventually allowed the US to win the war.

  • First Battle of El Alamein

    First Battle of El Alamein 1942 - Important battle against Germany and Britain in Africa. Germany lost close to 20,000 men. Around 40,000 men died total.

  • Bataan Death March

    Bataan Death March 1942 - The Japanese captured 13,000 US soldiers and filipinos and made them march 60 miles. They weren't given food or water. Would be shot if they stopped for a second.

  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of stalingrad 1943 - Lots of citizens were killed. Germany fought for control of the city. This was the bloodiest battle of the war.

  • Tall Boy

    Tall Boy 1944 - Was an eARTHquake bomb built by the British. Would cause an earthquake when it detonated. It was filled with 5,200 pounds of Torpex D1 which is 50% stronger than TNT.

  • D-day

    D-day 1944 - Was one of the biggest battles in history. Germany didn’t think that the US would attack at that beach. So when the US attacked Germany had to move its military to Normandy.

  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge 1944 - One of the bloodiest battles of the war. Over one million soldiers combined participated. Germany started small then were reinforced.

  • Battle of Anzio

    Battle of Anzio 1944 - Close to 100,000 men died. Took place in Italy. Axis troops won the battle.

  • Battle of Guam

    Battle of Guam 1944 - The US won and took control of the Island. Most of the citizens had committed suicide when the US invaded. The US had used a strategy called Island Hopping to take Guam.

  • Liberation

    Liberation 1945 - American soldiers liberated Jews from death camps. Was the end of the war Germany. What the Americans found in the Camps were horrifying.

  • Little Boy

    Little boy 1945 - one of two atomic bombs dropped on Japan. it had 140 pounds of Uranium 242. Ended the war.

  • Fat Man

    Fat man 1945 - two of two atomic bombs dropped on Japan. Had 14 pounds of plutonium in it. Ended the war with Japan.

  • Grand Slam

    Grand Slam 1945 - Was a different kind of earthquake bomb. It was the strongest non-atomic bomb used in WW2. It was also developed by the British.

  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima 1945 - The US won and took control of the Island. The US were ambushed in the beginning. Most of the island was ded by the end of the war.
