Maries dad was given a diamond named "The Sea of Flames" which is supposed to be cursed. After her dad takes the diamond, she becomes blind which then requires for Marie to learn how to get around with touch. -
Introduction to characters
Marie went blind when she was 6 years old and she lives with her father who works as a locksmith in a meusium in France. Werner and his sister, Jutta, live in an orphnage in Germany and Werner love to fix thing, secifically radios. -

The Start of WWII was on September 1, 1939 when Nazi Germany invaded Poland and France. The war was declared on Germany. Many countries were already at war with eachother but later on joined into the war when the German’s invaded the Societ Union and the bombing of Pearl Harbor. -

The bombing of Saint-Malo has just begun. The Hotel of Bees, where Werner was hifdng in the basement was struck by a bomb. The impact of the bombs shakes Etienne’s home and sends glass and plaster flying, but the house isn’t hit. Marie-Laure, who is on the sixth floor, realizes she needs to take shelter. -
