    He was a British president during WWII. He helped President FDR after Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and alerted the threat of communist to the world. He believed the victory of Allied side and helped out the country.

    Franklin D. Roosevelt was the only U.S. president to be elected four times. He led the United States through the Great Depression, with his "New Deal" policies, and World War II. He became a victim of Polio bet he fought against it and kept bulding his carrer. He's the only president who did 4 terms. He was shot and hid death shocked all of the Americans. He established the United States' leadership on the world stage.

    Benito Mussolini

    Benito Mussolini created the Fascist Party in Italy in 1919, eventually making himself dictator prior to World War II. He seized too much power and he was killed by his own people. President FDR and Churchill made Italy out of war and Mussolini was forced to resign and arrested; German commandos later rescued him. He escaped to Switzerland but he was killed in 1945. He couldn't realize Roman glory.

    Harry S. Truman

    Sworn in as the 33rd president after Franklin Delano Roosevelt's sudden death, Harry S. Truman presided over the end of WWII and dropped the atomic bomb on Japan. He started Cold War and Korean War.

    Adolf Hitler

    Adolf Hitler was the leader of Nazi Germany from 1934 to 1945 and was also president. During the Great Depression, Germany had such a difficult time his speech attracted people and he seized enormous power. He held the Holocaust, which was a macassar of Jewish, Poles, communists, and homosexuals. He did brutal things ever. When Allied armies were advancing into Germany and realized Germany's lose, he committed suicide. His fascist policies resulted in millions of death.

    Vernon Baker

    Vernon Baker was a highly decorated soldier and the only living black WWII veteran to earn the Congressional Medal of Honor. He was on the segregated 270th Regiment of the 92nd Infantry Division, the first black unit to go into combat in WWII.

    The most decorated U.S. soldier of World War II, Audie Murphy returned home a hero and became an actor, starring in his own story, To Hell and Back. When he was back from war, LIFE magazine honored the brave, baby-faced soldier by putting him on the cover of its July 16, 1945 issue.

    When Chinese soldiers out of town Japanese armed forces killed an estimated 300,000 Nanking civilians and raped 20,000 to 80,000 girls to old ladies. However, Japanese claims this incident was made up by Chinese.

    Japanese-American Interment Camps

    In the U.S., over 127,000Japanese-Americans were imprisoned during WWII. Despite the lack of any concrete evidence, Japanese Americans were suspected of remaining loyal to their ancestral land.

    Victory Gardens

    The government rationed foods like sugar, butter, milk, cheese, eggs, coffee, meat and canned goods. Labor and transportation shortages made it hard to harvest and move fruits and vegetables to market. So, the government turned to its citizens and encouraged them to plant "Victory Gardens." They wanted individuals to provide their own fruits and vegetables.
    Almost 20 million people respond to this call and planted gardens in backyards.

    Women took over many jobs for servicemen, most notably in heavy industry some joined the military. They supported their country despite of men's absence.

    Enacted by Congress in 1941 the Lend-Lease Act empowered the president to sell, transfer, lend, or lease war supplies—such as equipment, food, and weapons—to American allies during World War II.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Since U.S. banned Japan from seizing Indonesia's oil, Japanese air forces attacked Pearl Harbor without warning in advance and the U.S. lost 2400 men and ships.

    Due to the Japanese attack on the Pearl Harbor, President FDR declared war on Japan the phrase “a date which will live in world history” is his famouse state. Japanese occupied lots of Pacific islands and U.S. finally start fighting with Japan. Few day later, Germany declared war on U.S.

    Marshall noted British success in using women for noncombat duties. Congress created Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps in 1942 and WAAC later renamed “Women’s Army Corps.” Also they accepted for Voluntary Emrgency Service. They became nurses, clerical work, and communications job.

    War Bonds

    Americans also helped finance the war by buying war bonds. More than $190 billion worth of bonds were purchased by private citizens over the course of the war. The program was heavily promoted with campaigns that involved movie stars, national celebrities, and even comic book heroes like Superman and Batman. Eight war bond drives were conducted from December 1942 to December 1945, and the response was tremendous.
  • Fire Bombing of Dresden

    A series of Allied firebombing raids begins against the German city of Dresden, reducing the "Florence of the Elbe" to rubble and flames, and killing as many as 135,000 people. It was the single most destructive bombing of the war, including Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This bombing made Gemany surrender.
