    Germany and Britain believed in power from naval fleets. Germany made average ships but Britain built far greater ships and this intimidated Germany. Powers searched to colonize but Germany wasn't able to colonize because Britain and France dominated most of the Globe.

    Francis Ferdinand is assassinated
    The Archduke, Ferdinand, was on his way to the hospital to visit injured civilians. As he passed by, a serb saw him and shot him with a revolver. Thus, the tensions between the kingdom of Serbia and the Austro-Hungarian empire arose.

    Germany declares war on Russia and other Euro-nations
    Germany declares war on Russia which cause the French to mobilize which then cause Germany to declare war on France as well. Germany the invades Belgium to attack France and dismisses the treaty of 1839. Britain then steps in to tell Germany to respect the treaty but they ignore Britain. This then causes Britain to declare war on Germany and now the World War turns into a European war.

    The US joins the war after 2 years if neutrality so they can help their allies, Britain and France. Plus, German submarines kept attacking merchant ships. The US's entrance to help the others led to the stalemate being broken and helped end the war.

    After WWI, the treaty of Versailles is made to bring peace among the allies and to stop imperialistic conquering styles. However, Germany, Italy,and Russia were soon taken out of the league of Nations because they kept conquering lands. The allies were upset by their conquering and they tried to put in this peace again which led to WWII.

    Italy and Germany's response to the Treaty
    Japan began to conquer China, Korea and other neighboring weak nations. Italy wanted to bring honor back into their country but the treaty prevented them from taking Ethiopia as a colony. Germany felt the most upset over the treaties strict policies and other states agreed paving a way for Hitler to easily rise in power without huge amounts of opposition.

    Germany conquers Europe
    Germans went into Poland abruptly and bombed the metropolitan cities. Germany and Britain were fighting through navy and submarines and by air attacks on populated cities. The French fell and the Italian army came in and joined the Germans because they believed Germany was winning the war.

    The US decides to join the war at this time partially because it's cash-and-carry policy with Britain (lend and lease of weapons and machines). The main reason of the US's involvement was the declaration of war Japan mad against the US by attacking Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. This attack led to Germany and Italy to also declare war on the US. The US then bombs Hiroshima and Nagasaki and then the Soviet Union declares war on Japan making Japan surrender and the war to end.

    During the war, Germany committed racial genocide that would soon not be erased from history. They had created concerntration camps to kill and overwork the Jewish people. Although their main target was Jewish people they also murdered other who were unfavorable. 5.7 million Jewish people were murdered during the Holocaust and such an act was to be made sure was avoided in future wars.

    The Cold War Aftermath
    At the end of WWII many nation states that participated in the war were left weakened except Russia and the US. This brought the idea of 2 superpowers and even though they fought together in WWII they heavily opposed each other's political, social and economic views (Capitalism vs. Communism) After WWII, the two superpowers created a lot of tension on who would strike first causing the Cold War.
