    Japanese Invasion of Manchuria
    Japan was in a great depression when they invaded Manchuria. They invaded in hopes of getting more resources such as oil, rubber, and lumber. Japan did not declare war on China prior to the invasion which goes against the rules of the League of Nations. China looked to the League of Nations for help to get Japan out of their country, but the League could not offer much help. This ultimately showed how little influence the League of Nations had over international issues.
  • Blitzkreig

    Blitzkreig
    Blitzkrieg is an extreme military technique. It requires fast movement that has hopes of ending in a swift victory. This technique helps preserve soldiers lives and artillery. It was developed by the German forces when Hitler wanted to quickly take over Poland.
  • Strategic Bombing

    Strategic Bombing
    Strategic bombing was used in total war in hopes of completely erasing all mode of transportation and economic recovery of the enemy. It is a planned attack from the air. The planes line up the shot and launch missiles, ultimately blowing up the whole surrounding area.
  • Battle of the Atlantic

    Battle of the Atlantic
    The Battle of the Atlantic was the longest war campaign in World War 2 lasting six years. This war had hopes of defeating Nazi Germany and had a huge impact on naval war and history. The official beginning of this war happened the day after war was declared. The naval Allied powers set up the blockade of Germany which started the war.

    Genocide is the mass execution, almost extinction, of a group of people. World War 2 is known for one of the biggest genocides, the Holocaust. A genocide is usually against a certain race or ethnic group. This war tactic is effective in getting rid of close to millions of people.
  • Battle of Moscow

    Battle of Moscow
    The Battle of Moscow consisted of two periods of strategic fighting on the Eastern Front. The fighting was taking place to try and keep Moscow from being taken over by Hitler. These war efforts frustrated Hitler as they kept him from advancing as quickly as her wanted to. His attack on Moscow eventually allowed for the invasion of the Soviet Union to happen much more smoothly. This allowed Hitler to gain more power, much faster.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise bombing made by the Japanese. Japan was in the midst of extreme invasion of Asia. The attack was used as a preventative action to keep the United States out of Japan's military plans. Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor led to the United States formal entry into World War ll.
  • Second Sino-Japanese War

    Second Sino-Japanese War
    Despite war actually being declared in 1941, this war started long before. Japan was rapidly invading China since 1931. In 1937, China began to completely cut off all Japanese invasion which resulted in major conflict. There was a stalemate until 1944, when the Allies counterattacked on Japan's home islands and the Pacific. This resulted in Japan's surrender. This war also contributed to Communist defeat of the Nationalist troops in 1949.
  • Battle of El Alamein

    Battle of El Alamein
    This battle took place on the Egyptian railway halt. It took place after the first battle of El Alamein which resulted in a threat from the Axis powers. The second battle was an Allied victory which ended the threat and sparked the beginning of the end of the Western Campaign.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    In this battle, the United States Marine Corps captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese Army. This island would provide a major staging area for attacks on the Japanese, but after the massive bloodshed from the battle, it's intended purpose became controversial. It became useless to the US as a staging area and was eventually turned into emergency landing strips USAFF B-29s.
