They went from island to island until they got as close as needed and built their base.

    The Executive Order 9066 was an order that ordered Japanese Americans to live in internment camps whether or not they had citizenship. Korematsu was a japanese american that took this order to court about the unfairness. He lost the battle and still refused to be deported and was eventually arrested.

This american air attack was used as a retaliation act for the Bombing of pearl harbor. The point of these raids were to show Japan that they were still vulnerable and to inflict doubt upon the Japanese military leaders and their ability to defend their country.     MacArthur returns to the Philippines on October 20, 1944. After island hopping with his troops to go and attack Japan, he had made a promise to return to the Philippines where he had been forced to flee in 1942. He waded onto the Philippines and declared over a radio broadcast, “People of the Philippines, I have returned!” Then, in 1945 his troops came and launched an attack on the Philippines. The US being ambitious, landed on Iwo Jima, which was being defended by at least 23,000 japan troops.
