    Battle of Bataan

    A three month battle between US and Japanese forces shortly after the Pearl harbor bombing and what initially started as an attacked, ended in a surrender leading to the Bataan Death March.

    Japanese Internment Camps

    Shortly after the Pearl Harbor bombing, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 which stated all Japanese-Americans living in the west of the US be relocated to internment camps.
  • Bataan Death March

    The forcibal transfer of 60,000-80,000 US and Filipino prisoners of war to several different areas totaling a distance of 60-69 miles walked where on this walk, Japanese soldiers would beat, or kill prisoners of war and was later on after the was declared a War Crime by the Japanese.
  • The Battle of Midway

    The Battle of Midway was a decisive and is almost seen as the turning point of the pacific war. The US navy held off the attacking Japanese Imperial Army in a three day defensive where the US navy took complete control of the battle destroying too many vessels and killing too many Japanese soldiers for the Japs to continue their push and had to back off.

    Bougainville Campaign

    The Bougainville campaign was a series of land and naval battles of the Pacific campaign of World War II between Allied forces and the Empire of Japan. It was part of Operation Cartwheel, the Allied grand strategy in the South Pacific. The campaign took place in the Northern Solomons in two phases.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Considered the most brutal battle in the whole pacific war, the allied forces invaded the island and faced heavy Japanese forces fighting back but after a long battle, allied forces finally found a victory. During this battle the most famous photo that came out of ww2 was taken.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    For an effort for another push, the US marines and army attacked the island of Okinawa in what was another one of the bloodiest battles of the whole pacific war. The battle was fought on the island of Okinawa against the Imperial Japanese Army which including casualties over 150,000.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

    On August 6, 1945, during ww2, American B-29 bomber surprised thousands with the world’s first deployed atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The explosion wiped out 90 percent of the city and along that 90 000 - 166 000 people died on the first day. Just a mere three days later the second A-bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. An estimated 40,000 people fell to the deadly catastrophe.
