    After Pearl Harbor, many americans were afraid of the Japanese, and afraid that they would attack again. On this date, FDR said there will be Internment camps for Japanese Americans. 110,000 people of Japanese heritage and Japanese citizens in America were sent here. This was to make sure America would be safe with the Japanese in our country.

    The Bataan Death March
    After the Battle of Bataan in the Philippines, Americans and the Filipino men lost. The Japanese invaded and made all of these troops do an awful thing, a death march. The troops walked over 60 miles and for 5 day and nights. Many didn't make the trip to Camp O'donnell, a camp where the Japanese were taking them. But many did survive to tell the awful story.

    On this date, American soldiers helped allies strom the beaches of North Germany at Normanday. There were 5 beaches that the Allies took over from the Germans, Utah, Sword, Omaha, Juno, and Gold. 6,600 Americans lost there lives in this battle fighting for America. Taking the 5 beaches led an entry way into Germany, and changed how the war planned out.

    Auschwitz Liberation
    The Final Solution was Germanys plan to exterminate the Jewish race by using concentration and extermination camps. Possibly the deadliest and largest was Auschwitz. Everyday Jews were mistreated and killed by Nazis for no reason. They all dreamed if they would ever get out, well in January of 1945, they did. Soviet Union forces came and liberated and took over the camp from the Nazis. Finally the Jews dream had come true.

    Raising the Flag on Mount Suribachi
    The battle of Iwo Jima started out with the Americans thinking there were no Japanese forces there, but they were wrong. This battle was one of the bloodiest and deadliest battles in wartime history. On one of the days of battle, 6 brave soldiers went to the top of Mount Suribachi on the island and raised the American Flag. Although 3 died, these soldiers were remembered as heroes.

    Bombing of Hiroshima
    The Manhattan Project was the testing of Atom bombs in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The United States wanted a way to end the war with Japan, and they thought they found the answer. On this date, The Enola Gay flew over the city of Hiroshima and dropped an Nuclear Atom bomb killing hundreds of thousands Japanese. This made the Japanese surrender to America because they wanted no more trouble. Finally the Americans were happy again.
