    Archduke Franz Ferdinand was shot and killed during a visit to the Bosnian capital. His wife was also killed with him. He traveled to Sarajevo to inspect the imperial armed forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 19-year-old Gavrilo Princip was able to shoot the royal couple. This assassination set off a chain of events that contributed to starting WW1.

    The Lusitania was a big British ship that was made to carry people across the Atlantic Ocean. In 1915, a German submarine called U-20 shot a torpedo at the Lusitania. The ship sank in about 18 minutes. There were a lot of people who died, including 1,198 passengers, including 128 Americans. The people in the U.S. were very angry at Germany.

The front was not as bad as the others; the Germans would start throwing a barrage on them every now and then. They went hiking with food on their backs.

The Germans leveled the woods with all their gunfire. After that, it was bombarding continuously from all sides.

    They started a barrage on the German trenches. The men went over the top at 6:15. They took their objective, but he said," That was where the fun began". The Germans launched a counterattack, but each time it was unsuccessful. So where the Germans were defeated the first time, by Americans called tin soldiers. They kept fighting for a whole week after that.

    They were just sitting in the trenches when the Germans started a gas bombardment. Towards the evening of the next day, he thought he had a cold because his voice was getting rougher. When he was relieved on the front by the French, he knew his cold was worsening. He went on a sick report, was told by the doctor that he was gassed. He stayed in the hospital for 3 weeks without his voice improving, he went to a bar and got very drunk. The next morning, he could whisper, and his voice was better.

The Germans felt like they were being punished too much, and some people think the treaty is what led to WW1.
