The royal brothers served on HMS Bacchante for three years. They toured the colonies of the British Empire in the Caribbean, South Africa and Australia, and visited Norfolk, Virginia, as well as South America, the Mediterreanean, Egypt, and East Asia. Those were the places they sailed to during that time. -

On a visit to Japan george had a local artist tattoo a blue and red dragon on his arm. That was his first tattoo. Emporer Meiji witnessed him receive the tattoo. -
George’s oldest brother got engaged
Albert Victor was his name. He got engaged to his second cousin once removed. Her name was Princess Victoria Mary of Teck. -
His last service as part of the royal navy

George proposed to Marie in 1893. Sadly he was rejected and turned down. Marie ended up marrying Ferdinand instead the king of Romania. -

He married May in 1893. He waited a year after his brothers death til he got married. They got married at the Chapel Royal in St. James Palace. -
Queen Victoria dies
On January 22, 1901 Queen Victoria died the reason is unknown. Following the death of Queen Victoria George’s father ascended into the throne as King Edward VII. -
George was made prince of wales
scroll down Geroge was made the prince of wales on November 9, 1901. King Edward VII wanted to prepare his son for his future role as king after he died. As Prince of Wales, George supported the various naval reforms, including the enrollment of cadets at the ages of twelve and thirteen. -
George and May toured British India
He was disgusted by racial discrimination on this tour. He campaigned for greater involvement of Indians in the government of the country. After this tour he and May toured Spain for the wedding of King Alonso XIII to Victoria Eugenie. -
George’s father died
King Edward VII dies on May 6, 1910. After his fathers death he became King George V. When he spoke after his fathers death he said "I have lost my best friend and the best of fathers.” -
Albert Victor dies George’s brother
Albert died of a disease called pneumonia. Albert was second in line to be king. Since he died George moved up to second in line behind his father. -

He died at Sandringham in Norfolk in 1936. He was seventy years old. He had a cold and got weaker when he had it until he died. His death was announced the following morning.
