    This was a German term that meant lightning war and was used to quickly end wars. This led to the Germans using this tactic throughout the war.

    This was the attack of Japanese fighter pilots crashed into the ships and land of the island. This was done so the Japanese could expand and brought the US into the war.
  • Battle of Midway

    Battle of Midway
    Very important naval battle in the Pacific ocean between the US and Japan. Both sides lost a lot of troops and the battle was for territory control.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    Major battle on the eastern front where the Germans fought the Russians for the city of Stalingrad.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    This was when Canadian, US, and British troops attacked the German coastline to push the Germans back and limit their power.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    This was where Hitler tried to break up the Alied forces by splitting up the fighting. The Allied forces were beaten up very badly and lost many soldiers.

    This island was invaded by American soldiers to get a better coastal base closer to the Japanese. This provided a very tactical advantage for the US.

    This was another fight over very important islands needed for tactical advantages for both Japanese and US forces. Both sides lost closer to 100,000 troops.
  • VE-Day

    VE-Day
    This was the day all european countries celebrated in the triumph over Germany. This was very good news as a very large Axis power was now out of the picture.

    The US dropped bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This was the only way President Truman saw to end the war against the Japanese. It worked but it killed thousands of people and now makes today a very unsettling place knowing that technology exists.

    This was the day the Japanese surrendered to the US. The dropping of the bombs greatly affected them so they ended the war. This made sure no more lives were lost and countries could begin to rebuild.
