Josef Stalin sole dictator of the Soviet Union (USSR). Stalin turned the Soviet Union into a totalitarianism. He took high measures to have complete control of industry and agfriculture.

Japan’s army pillages Nanjing, China; massacre a quarter of a million people. This is also known as the "Rape on Nanking". Hunderds of thousands of Chinese and disarmed soldiers were killed, raped, and looted by the Japenese.

Munich Pact signed giving the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia to Germany. This was in hopes to appease Germany before it took the violence to far.

Nazis begin rounding up Jews for labor camps. Labor camps were brutal places with little food and water with continuous work. About 20,000 camps were made to contain the many prisinors.

Nazi-Soviet Pact signed by Hitler and Stalin. Hitler planned this to avoid splitting Germany's forces again. He hoped this would help with the taking of Poland.

Nazis invade Poland; Britain and France declare war on Germany. Germany by this time had an enormous army and Poland didn't stand a chance.
