    Hitler Invades Rhineland
    Adolf Hitler violated Treaty of Versailles by sending German military forces into the Rhineland. This is known as one of the four main causes of World War II.

    The Munich Pact
    The British prime minister, Neville Chamberlain and the French prime minister Edouard Daladier signed the Munich Pact with Adolf Hitler, the Nazi leader. This agreement prevented the outbreak of war but gave Czechoslovakia away to German conquest.

    Kristallnacht is often known as the Night of Broken Glass. This was a violent riot against Jews throughout Nazi Germany and Austria. This happened on the 9-10 of November 1938, carried out by SA paramilitary forces and German civilians while German authorities looked on without intervening. This was a part of the holocaust.

The main terms of the Treaty of Versailles was one of the causes of WWII as Germans were unhappy and thought they were too harsh. Also, Hitler's actions ex. taking back land which once belonged Germany but was taken away and more caused WWII, and failure of appeasement with the Munich agreement. Finally failure of the League of Nations also caused WWII

    The war in the Atlantic/European Theater is the other theater in WWII. This was a huge area of heavy fighting across Europe from Germany's invasion of Poland on September until the end of the war with the German unconditional surrender.

    Operation Barbarossa was the code name for Nazi Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union. This invasion is seen as one of Hitler's biggest mistakes as German troops lost huge amounts of equipment and soldiers as well as the battle.He had underestimated the capability of the Russian people and this was the turning point of the war. Adolf Hitler chose to invade the USSR although they had a peace pact.

    hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. The attack ignited the fury of the United States' entrance into World War II. This is what pushed the United States to declare war on Japan the very next day, December 8th 1941.

German Jews were deported to the ghetto of Lodz in Poland. It is clear that the genocide of the Jews was the culmination of a decade of Nazi policy, under the rule of Adolf Hitler.

    The battle of Midway was the turning point in the Pacific War against Japan. This battle broke the back of Japan's ability to project and sustain sufficient forces to expand their empire. Following this battle Japan's strategy changed to delay and prepare to defend the home islands.

    A major raid launched by the Allies on the small French coast port of Dieppe. Also known as Operation Jubilee it was the first Canadian Army engagement in the European war. This raid was designed to test the Allies' ability to launch amphibious assaults against Adolf Hitler's "Fortress Europe".

    D-day was code-named Operation Neptune, presumably because it involved a water landing by the Allies on the beaches of Normandy, France. It was the largest military operation by sea in history. Tides had turned against German forces after D-day which shortened the period of war gave the Allies momentum on the continent of Europe.

    Victory in Europe Day generally known as V-E Day, VE Day or simply V Day was the public holiday which marked the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Nazi Germany's unconditional surrender of its armed forces.

    Americans dropped the world's first atomic on Hiroshima, Japan. Due to the dropping of the atomic bomb 78,000 people were killed and 100,000 more injured. It was an attempt to end the Second World War. As a result of direct exposure to these bombs, over 200,000 people died

    Bombing of Nagasaki, Japan
    The Americans dropped the world's second atomic bomb 4 days later after the first bomb dropping. The second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, Japan and a day later Japan surrendered. It is believed that the USA dropped the atomic bombs to frighten the Russians from confronting the West, to test the weapon on humans, to quickly end the war saving lives and keeping Russians out the war, and as revenge for Pearl Harbor and Japanese war crimes against allied prisoners of war.
  • V-J Day

    V-J Day
    "Victory In Japan Day or "Victory Over Japan Day marked the final ending of World War 2 with Japan's surrender on August 11th 1945 following the 2 atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A formal surrender ceremony held in Tokyo Bay aboard the USS Missouri. President Truman declared it to be V-J Day.
