World War II started in Europe on September 1, 1939 when Germany invaded Poland. In response, Britan and France declared war on Germany on September 3rd. That month, Poland was defeated by Germany and the Soviet Union. -
FDR presented the Lend-Lease Program to congress. This program provided military help to other countries whose defense was vital to the US's securtiy.
