  • Adolf Hitler

    Adolf Hitler
    Once a soldier for WWI this german man become on of the most notorious leaders in history. He came to power as the leader of the nazi party of june 1921. Slowly gaining more and more titles through ways of popularity. He became Reich Chancellor of Germany on January 30th of 1933 and later became the Fuhrer of Germany on August 2nd 1934. Hitler was an effective dictator of Nazi Germany. And was at the center of WWII and the Holocaust.
  • Joseph Stalin

    Joseph Stalin
    Stalin was the dictator of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics or for short the USSR. But before that, Stalin was the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist party of the Soviet Union. And when WWII began to worsen he became the Chariman of the Council Ministers in May of 1941. Later that same year on he would recieve the rank of Peoples Commissar of Defense. However, Stalin ruled with an iron fist which caused millions of his own citizens died.

    At this time a man by the name of Benito Mussolini came to power. Benito was an Italian politician, journalist, and leader of the National Fascist Party. He ruled the country of Italy as the Prime Minister from 1922 until his death in 1945. Benito is also known as one of the key figures in the creation of fascism.

    After spending several months in the hospital Hamaguchi dies of his wounds.
  • Tojo Hideki

    Tojo Hideki
    A man by the name of Tojo Hideki was promoted major general after years of trying to gain the title. He was, politically, a fascist, nationalist, and militarist. He was quick and able to making decisive descisions which earned him the nickname "Razor".
  • Nazi Spy in the US

    Nazi Spy in the US
    At Pier 86 in New York City, an Abwehr (German military intelligence) agent with the alias William Lonkowski attempted to pass to his contact a violin case containing airplane blueprints and specifications, film negatives, photographs of a top secret US bomber and fighter plane, and written evidence that more secrets were being stolen by Nazi spies at Langley Field in Virginia and other places. They were caught but eventually set free, returning as a hero to the country of Germeny.

    Italy’s conquest of Ethiopia
    A Colonial war, which was fought between the forces of Italy and the Ethiopian Empire (also known as Abyssinia). The war lasted from 1935 to May of 1936. When the war was over it resulted in the military occupation of Ethiopia.
  • Spanish Civil War

    Spanish Civil War
    A war between the Spanish Republic and the Nationalists who where a reble group at that time. The civil war lasted for 1936 to 1939 ending with the Nationalists winning; the war is often addressed as the "dress rehearsal" for WWII

    	Rome-Berlin Axis Formed
    Agreement between two fascist countries; Italy and Germany. Its said that the agreement was concocted by Italy's forgien minster, Galeazzo Ciano
  • Annexing Austria

    Annexing Austria
    On that day in March of the year 1938, German troops march into Austria; they say they plan to annex the German-speaking nation for the Third Reich. And that plan succeed.
  • The Holocaust

    Known also as the "Final Solution", the Holocaust was the event of "non-Ayran" people (mainly Jews or people the Nazi's saw unfit) to be methodically murdered in a genocide. 11 million people were killed during this time.

    Made shortly after WWII started, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union signed form called the: German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact. The pact was made to which the two countries could take no military action against each other for the next decade.

    The Attack and Invasion of Poland
    In the year 1939 on September 1st, Poland was attacked and eventually divided up between Germany, the Soviet Union, Lithuania and Slovakia. Poland was serverly out matched with 950,000 in strength (this inculed weapons, air crafts and divisions) while their enemy was 2,000,000+ strong. This marked the begining of WWII.
  • Assault with a Deadly Streetcar

    Assault with a Deadly Streetcar
    In Rotterdam, it was the first day of the Nazi invasion of the Netherlands. Twelve pontoon planes landed on the New Maas River near the Willemsbrug at the city’s center. These planes carried a group of German engineers and infantry soldiers, who paddled across the river using inflatable rubber boats. They were sent to seize and control the bridge. Lasted for 5 days resulting in German victory.
  • Vichy France vs. the Allies

    After the French surrendered in 1940, Germany created a puppet government in Vichy, though the government did not have any real power or control. After the French were defeated, there were still some surviving French forces in place. Suddenly there was a new attack called Operation Torch. Hundreds were killed
  • Battle of Britain

    	Battle of Britain
    Name given during the WWII, the battle was an air campaign which was waged by the German and the UK air forces. The battle itself was the first major campaign to be fought entirely in the air. And, lets not foget, was also the largest and most sustained aerial bombing campaign to date. The battle was not long, lasting from july 10th to October 31st 1940.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    At the time, Pearl Harbor was a lagoon harbor on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, west of Honolulu. The harbor is a United States Navy deep-water naval base as well as he headquarters of the United States Pacific Fleet. But on December 17th, it was attacked by japanese air crafts and the outcome resulted in America becoming envolved in WWII
  • Stalag Luft III

    Stalag Luft III
    Stalag Luft III was a Nazi POW camp, mostly for allied airmen who’d been shot down and taken captive. But over 600 captives had helped to organize an escape, but on the day it was excecuted everything went wrong. Only 77 men managed to get into the escape tunnels, and were soon discovered. Of the 77, only 3 escaped. And 50 others were executed.
  • Aleutian Islands Campaign

    Aleutian Islands Campaign
    In 1942 Japanese troops invaded two islands by the names of Attu and Kiska. Both part of Alaska. But nothing good came from taking over, with bad conditions and temperatures it proved little of a threat to the United States. There was little to no casualties. And those that died, died from booby traps, weather and friendly fire.
  • Battle of Midway

    Battle of Midway
    Though very short battle, lasting only 3 days, it was a very crucial naval battle durning WWII. The battle manged to effectively destroyed Japan’s naval strength when the Americans attacked and destroyed four of its aircraft carriers. The Japanese never fully recovered.
  • Operation Drumbeat

    Operation Drumbeat
    Operation Drumbeat involved 40 U-Boats attacking ships near the coastlines of various states. Some were even close to America, staitioning themselves at Long Island, New York, and Ponte Vedra, Florida. On some of those 40 U-Boats they carried 8 English-speaking Germans who eventually snuck into America. However a few were captured.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    This was a major and critcal battle of WWII in which Nazi Germany and its allies fought against the Soviet Union for the control of the city of Stalingrad in Southern Russia.
  • Normandy landings

    Normandy landings
    The Normandy landings were the landing operations of the Allied invasion of Normandy. In Operation Overlord during WWII, the largest seaborne battle in history took place. It started off as an invasion of German troops occuping western Europe; which led to the liberation of France from Nazi Germany control, and this contributed to the Allies as a victory in the war.
  • Japanese Fire Balloons

    Japanese Fire Balloons
    The Japanese began launching over 9000 “Fire Balloons” from the island of Honshu. The balloons were made of Japanese paper whichwere then filled with hydrogen and explosives. It was meant to go with the Jet Stream and fly to North America where they would detonate but the plan was very ineffective, killing only 6 Americans from a singal explosion.

    The battle was a major German offensive campaign, which launched through the densely forested regions of Belgium, France, and Luxembourg on the Western Front toward the end of WWII.

    Franklin D. Roosevelt died on April 1945 from a Cerebral hemorrhage.
  • Dropping of the Atomic bombs

    	Dropping of the Atomic bombs
    The first time atomic weaponry was ever used was when the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, a Japanese city. Some say that this move marked the end of WWII.
  • V-E Day

    	V-E Day
    V-E really stands for "Victory in Europe". Its a public holiday which celebrates the mark the rule of Nazi Germany as well as the end WWII.
  • V-J Day

    V-J Day
    V-J stands for "Victory Over Japan". The name was chosen for the day on which Japan surrendered. This was declared a few months after the end of WWII.
