Shortly after, on December 11, 1941, the U.S. declared war on Germany and Italy. On June 5, 1942, the United States was officially at war with Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria.

    On June 6th, 1944, the United States army invaded Normany, France. During this period, France was under control of Nazi Germany, and the U.S., as allies of the French, found it necessary to intervene. There were as many as 13,000 Allied troops
    This invastion was staged with help from Britian and Canada, and was an influential point in World War II. There were some 4,000 Allied casualties. However, by the end of August in 1944, France had been liberated, proving just how important D-Day was.
