This marks the end of the War in Europe. The war in the Pacific however, called for more drastic measures

Allies use atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Over 200,000 people would eventually die due to these bombs being dropped. It broke Japan's spirit and ended the war

United Nations

The successor to the League of Nations, this organization was more powerful as it had the US at it's head. It still exist today.
