The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military strike by the Imperial Japanese on the US military base. The US was not ready for this surprise attack. The Japanese weakened our pacific fleet. This was the main cause of the US joining the war.

The world's first atomic bomb was detonated 200 miles south of Los Alamos at Trinity Site. This test proved that scientists at the Laboratory had successfully weaponized the atom. By this time, Hitler had been defeated in Europe, but the Japanese Empire continued an aggressive war. The bomb was later used to surrender Japan.

an American B-29 bomber dropped the world’s first deployed atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The explosion immediately killed an estimated 80,000 people; tens of thousands more would later die of radiation exposure. The US did this to make Japan surrender and ultimately save more American lives.
