    The United States government feared that Japanese-American citizens were planning a coup, so Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066, which authorized the Department of War to arrest 11,000 Japanese Americans on the West Coast. Once the Japanese-Americans were taken away, they were forced to sell their property. They only hope of them escaping the prisons was to serve the U.S in WWII.
