    The stock market crash on October 29th, 1929 led to the Great Depression which caused mass unemployment around the world. This crash also led to fascism governments to take over a few countries, including Germany and Italy.
  • Japan invades Manchuria

    Japan invades Manchuria
    Japan needed more natural resources, but they only had their small island to use. They decide to invade a few different areas, starting with Manchuria on September 19th, 1931. These invasions lasted until February 27th, 1932.
  • Adolf Hitler becomes chancellor of Germany

    Adolf Hitler becomes chancellor of Germany
    After WWI, Germany had been treated unfairly by the Treaty of Versailles which began the rise of the Nazis, with Hitler being the leader. After many Germans had been supporting the Nazi party, Adolf Hitler finally came to power as the chancellor of Germany.

    In mid 1937, Japan continues what they did to Manchuria and decides to invade East China for more natural resources and to build an empire. In 1938, Japan occupied most of Eastern China.

    Germany invaded Poland in 1939, which one was one the biggest starts to WWII. After this invasion, both Great Britain and France declare war on the Nazis.
  • Paris falls to the Nazis

    Paris falls to the Nazis
    After conquering different countries like Poland, Denmark and Norway, the Nazis finally place their flag in Paris. Britain was one of the only European powers free from Hitler.
  • Pearl Harbor

    On December 7th, 1941, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, the location in Hawaii where the U.S. Pacific Fleet was located. The next day, the United States declares war on Japan.

    United States claims victory in Battle of Midway
    After cryptologists deciphered the Japan naval code, the United States claimed victory in the Battle of Midway. After the battle, the United States went offensive in the Pacific.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    On June 6th, 1944, the Allied forces pushed into Nazi-controlled France. There was an intense battle between the Nazis and the Allied powers on the Normandy beaches.
