This would spark an intrest for Hitler as they would be allies during world war 2. They took control of Manchuria and would keep it until the end of World War 2. This would lead to the Japan being a violent force during Wolrd War 2.

  • Germany's invasion of Poland

    Germany's invasion of Poland
    gemany blitzkrieg Poland and invaded them. Germany did it to take more land for Germany. With the help of Stalin, they had captured Poland easily and then divided it up. In the end though, Hitler would break the peace treaty between Germany and the USSR. This lead to the start of world war 2 and by the time it would end millions would have been killed.

    This was a new type of war tactic used during World War 2. Also know as lightning war, this was a tactic to use constant ground mobiles and artillery on a coutry. They used it against Poland and France to conquer both countries. In only six weeks of using this tactic they captured France. This was the most effective was the germans had captured contries fast.

    this was the day that Hitler invaded the Soviet Union. There were over 3 million german soldiers and 150 divisons. This was a crucial turning point in World War 2 because for its failure led to a two front war. The Germans had severely underestimated the russians. This would be one of the reasons why Germany loses the war.

    This was the day that the Japanese attacked the U.S. in Hawaii. The Japanese had planned to bomb the U.S. aircraft carriers. They had failed this mission because the the aircraft carriers had not been there when they attacked. This was the biggest attack on U.S. soil at that time. In the end the U.S. had lost over 2,000 lives.

    This was when the Nazi party had meet each other to discuss what they would with the jews. There were many proposals passed around during the meeting. Heydrich came up with the idea for the concentration camps for the jews in Poland. The only problem the had was how they would kill the stronger jews that survived the concentration camps. That the solution would soon be the gas chambers.

    This was when the americans had surrendered to the japanese on the Bataan Peninsula. Therer were approximately 75,000 troops that surrendered. They then had to march 65 miles to the prison camps in intesnse heat. This march took about 5 days to complete. Many soldiers died on the march to the camps.

    this was a naval battle between the U.S. and Japan. This was a improtant turning point in the Pacific campaign. This battle was in the north-central Pacific Ocean. The U.S. knew were the Japanese would be because the had broke some codes between Japan and the Japanese fleet. The U.S. would win this battle and go on the offense in the Pacific.

    This is known as one of the bloodiest battles in history with a combined casulaity of nearly 2 million. This was when Germany had attacked in the U.S.S.R to gain more ground. In the end though, this was a successful defense for the Soviets. This stopped the German advances in the Soviet Union. This was a turning point in the war that started to favor the Allies.

    residents of a jewish ghetto staged a revolt. They did this because the wanted to fight and not go to the concentration camps. This uprising inspired other revolts in other ghettos and extermination camps. They had lasted for almost a month. They had stolen weapons from a german armory

  • Operation Gomorrah

    Operation Gomorrah
    this was a week long operation when the americans and the british bombed Germany. The americans bombed during the day and the british at night. on the first day, the british dropped 2,300 tons of bombs on civilians. more than 1,500 civilians were killed in the first raid. At the end, 9,000 tons of explosives dropped killing 30,000 civilians.

  • D-Day

    D-Day
    This was the day that the allies stormed the beachs at Normandy, also known as Operation Overlord. There were five beachs stormed. The U.S. stormed two, Britan stormed two and Canada stormed one. The U.S. got the worst of it becasue the Germans were waiting for them to arrive and killed alot of the U.S. forces. At the end though, the allies won the battle and finally had a foot hold in Europe.

    This was a canceled operation for the allies. The operation was a massive attack on Berlin which would have shattered their morale. It was again reconsidered in 1945 but again rejected. The plan would have killed 110,000 germans, many key german personal. Instead they just used smaller attacks on Berlin.

  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    This was a last ditch effort from Hitler to seperate Allied armies. He planned to use a suprise blitzkrieg on the american forces. The americans were caught off-guard by this attack and battled the advancing german army. In the end the Americans had won the battle and this was the last battle of the war in Europe. At the end of the battle the U.S. had lost over 100,000 casualities which was the costliest battle they had fought.

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    The U.S. needed the island of Iwo Jima becase they needed a naval base near the japanese border. The U.S. had sent in the marines to fight against roughly 23,000 japanese troops. the japanese had made elaborate tunnels and caves to fight the Americans in. The U.S. had wiped out the japanese forces in about a month. The famous photo of the Americans raising the flag was taken at this battle.

    This was the last and biggest battle of the Pacific islands. This battle was 82 days long. The commanding generals on both sides died during the battle. the Japanese had made a series of defense lines apon the arrival of the U.S. Japan had lost more than 77,000 soldiers and the Allies had suffered more than 65,000 casualties.

    The day when the allies defeated Germany ending world war 2 in Europe. This event had followed the battle of the bulge which was the last battle in Europe. They did not capture Hitler because he had commited suicide and never found his body. Mussolini after the war had fleed Italy. In the end though, they found him and murdered him.

    This was a conference held near Berlin and was a meeting between the "Big Three". They had made agreements on what they would do with Germany after the war. How they would split it up and each control a different part. They had also issued a declaration demanding the surrender of Japan. The U.S. also would take control over Japan.

    This is the day that World War 2 ended in the Pacific. Japan had surrendered to U.S. because acouple days before, the U.S. had dropped two atomic bombs. The U.S. had also fire bombed Japanese cities including Tokyo. Japan was terrified of the atomic bombs because it had destroyed the towns completely that were bombed. This was the day that World War 2 had officialy ended.
