    In 1939 Germany invaded Poland. Which gets Japan and France attention so they declared war on Germany which soon turned into the European war. The US, which supplies Japan, cuts off oil exports to Japan. Isoroku Yamamoto planed an attack on Pearl Harbor, which was a success.

    Japan attakced the Naval base at pearl HArbor on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. A specific goal was to destroy the Pacific fleet.

    FDR authorized the internment of all Japanese Americans in the US.
  • Japanese put into internment camps

    Japanese put into internment camps
    The internment camps where made after Pearl Harbor. THe Japanese were deamed potentially dangerous and put into the camps. The first one opened on March 21, 1942 and it was called Manzanar.

    442nd regiment
    The 442nd regiment was an all Japanese group that fought for America in World War 2. Most of the people in the regiment would have rather died than dishonor their family or country yet they were still considered potentially dangerous. They took part in many battles in the war and there are countless story of their heroics. Their heroics in the war helped them land the title of the most highly decorated group in American history.

    A large population of Japanese lived in the western US. After Pearl Harbor to avoid any other violent acts. FDR directed Japanese Americans to go to internment camps.

    Korematsu v. US
    Korematsu went to court because he did not want to leave his home under Excecutive Order 9066.
  • Japanese internment camps released

    Japanese internment camps released
    The last of the internemnt camps to close down was Tule Lake on March 20, 1946. They're release was required by law after a bill was passed that it was unjust to contain them for their race.

    THe government officially apologized for puting the Japanese into internment camps. Each surviving ineternees received $20,000.
