Hitler becomes Chancellor
In 1933, Hitler becomes chancellor of Germany which is similar to a prime minister. This is very important during WW2 since this is when Hitler had started his power over Germany and the Nazi party. -
Munich Pact
The Munich Pact was a meeting between Britain, France, and Hitler. This was a agreement stating that Britain and France would not oppose Hitler taking Czech if Hitler promised not to take the rest and he agreed. Hitler also promised that he did not have other plans to take other parts of Europe. This was very important since this was supposed to stop Hitler from taking other countries but he lied and took the rest of Czech. -
Sinking of USS Kearney/ USS Ruben James
After the Greer incident, the Germans had a u-boat torpedo our USS Kearney and USS Ruben James. Why this is important is this was another sinking of our ships that the US still did not want to go to war with Germany after this incident. -
Pearl Harbor
The bombing of Pearl Harbor from the Japanese was a very devastating event that happened to the US. There were more than 2,300 humans that died and more than 180 aircraft destroyed. There were 5 of our battleships that had sank at Oahu, Hawaii. This date is very important since this is the event that had brought the US into WW2 and a event that will never be forgotten. -
Executive Order 9066
After the US getting revenge on Japan, the US forced Japanese into internment camps. These were the US version of concentration camps. The people were given less than 48 hours and to bring what they could carry. They were given a allegiance questionnaire to determine what camp they would be kept in. In some videos we watched, the camps were made to look like they were nice, but were not. This was important to the US to punish the Japanese after WW2 -
D-Day
In 1944 at Omaha beach , 175,000 allied forces come ashore in Normandy, France. This would be the beginning of the end for Germany occupation. This battle was very important since this battle had freed France from Germany's control and making Hitler start to loose power. During this battle, there were almost 4,000 wounded and killed. -
Hitler commits suicide
On this day, Hitler finial decided to commit suicide in a secret bunker he had in Berlin Germany. Hitler had committed suicide for the reasons of all of the horrible things he did and not having to be punished for it. -
Bombing on Hiroshima
On this day, the US had sent a B-29 named Enola Gay to drop a uranium bomb named little boy over the city Hiroshima, Japan. At 8:15a.m, Paul Tibbets had released the bomb over Japan. This event was very important since the US had dropped our first nuclear bomb over japan and was supposed to end the war, but didn't. -
Nagasaki
A few days after the bombing of Hiroshima, another B-29 nicknamed bocks car had lifted off and was aiming for a massive collection of war industries in Kokura. The plan had made 2 passes around and then at 11:02 a.m, the bomb called Fat man was dropped and was known to be 40 percent greater that Hiroshima. This event is one of the most important events since the day after, the emperor of Japan overruled the military leaders of Japan and forced them to surrender unconditionally -
V-J Day
On this day, news of Japanese surrender goes out to the world. This day is also known as Victory over Japan. This day was a very important day to the US since this is the day that japan had ended the war with us.
