Attack of Pearl Harbor
Japan bombs Pearl Harbor. They attacked the U.S Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The U.S.S. Arizona was thoroughly destroyed. There were more than 160 airplanes destroyed. -
On October 20, 1944, Douglas MacArthur fulfilled the promise to return back to where he had to flee from in 1942. He was forced to leave the Philippine island because he tried to save them from the Japanese.

Hitler commits suicide. Before that, he and his family moved into a bunker 55 feet below the city of Berlin. He gave his family poison including himself, then he shot himself.

This day United States and Great Britain celebrate the victory in Europe.They put flags and banners out to show the defeat of the Nazi's.

Hiroshima & Nagasaki
The U.S drops an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. The dropping of this bomb marked the end of World War 2. -
A second bomb is dropped by the U.S on Nagasaki, Japan. This brought Japan to surrender.

Japan surrenders to the Allies. This victory ended World War 2. August 14, 1945 is known as Victory over Japan Day or VJ Day.

Japan formally surrenders to the Allies on September 2, 1945. This brought World War 2 to an end. The Japanese navy and their airforce were demolished.
