This is a painting by Jean Fouquet called, The Melun Diptych. The Melun Diptych is a two-panel oil painting, and the name of this diptych came from its original home in the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame in Melun. This picture shows the importance of motherhood and power of a woman. I think that it embodies just how strong women are in a powerful position while still being motherly .

    Womens Fashion

    Womens Fashion
During the 1460s the differences between the fashions of Italy and those of northern Europe deepened. In Italy, inspired by the art and dress of antiquity, more naturalistic proportions and flowing drapery prevailed. This picture stood out to me because it shows, how fashion use to be back then for women and how they had to dress. The women seemed to have to be covered from head to toe they could not show any skin.
  • Judith Slaying Holofernes

    Judith Slaying Holofernes
This portrait was made by Artemisia Gentileschi whom was an Italian artist from Italy. Artemisia was the daughter of Orazio Gentileschi, who was a major follower of the revolutionary Baroque painter Caravaggio. She was an important second-generation proponent of Caravaggio's dramatic realism. This piece stood out to me because it was very striking in the way of how dark it was and how powerful this woman was to just kill a man in such a way.
