William Goulding was born on September 19 1911, in Saint Columb Minor, Cornwall England. Mildred, his mother, was an activist trying to get women to vote. Alex, his father was a school master.

As he grew older, Golding began to write novels. He became frustrated because they were not successful. He ended up bullying his peers and becoming a bratty child.

As he grew up, Golding attended Brasenose College in Oxford university. There, he continued creating stories and poetry. His father wanted him to be scientist but Golding was un interested.

Before graduating college, Golding created a book of poems. It was overlooked by critics.

After attending college, he became inspired by young boys that acted out of control. Which is what sparked the idea of the lord of the flies.

Golding made up his mind to serve in the navy and fight in World War 2. He temorarily took a break from literature.

The War ended and Golding went back to working on literature.

After being rejected 21 times, Golding was able to make lord of the flies possible.

The Lord of the Flies was made in to a film. Golding got awarded for his hard work.

Golding was knighted by the queen of England.
