He was born on September 19, 1911 in Cornwall, England. His mother and father were both intelligent and strong willed people. They lived right next to a graveyard when he was young.

As a child, Golding was a very frustrated person and his outlet was being a bully. He was unsuccessful in writing a book but went to college at Oxford University.

While in college, Goldings father wanted him to study science, but he studied literature instead. There, he published his first work which was a book of poems.

After awhile, he ended up becoming a teacher just like his father. He taught in Bishop Wordsworth’s School in Salisbury. He taught English and his studenta inspired him for writing Lord of the Flies.

For six years, he left teaching for the royal navy for 6 years. HHe fought in the WWII and to him, it was very educating and eye opening.

Golding left the Navy once the war was over. He left to continue his teaching career. He left with a lot of education and experience.

Lord of the Flies was Golding's first work, after being rejected 21 times. It was the best and most rewarding of his writings.

Golding went into acting a year after retiring from teaching. 20 years later he got the 1983 Nobel Peace Prize for Literature.

On June 19, 1993 Golding died of a heart attack, as he left behind his wife whom he had left with and two kids. He left a a legacy behind him.
