William Golding was born on September 19,1911 in Saint Columb Minor, Cornwall, England. He was born to Mildred and Alex Golding.

At age 12 Golding attempted to write his very first novel. He was unsucessful. He became frustrated with not being able to write a novel and began bullying his peers.
